Suits and Sandwiches Open House
Apr 12th, 10
On Wednesday, April 14, Catholic Charities of Lexington will be holding a “Suits & Sandwiches” event to celebrate the launch of the Suit Yourself career studio, located at 772 Winchester Road. This open house event will last from 12-2 p.m., during which time the general public is welcome to a free sandwich and a tour of the facility.
Earlier this year, Catholic Charities of Lexington hosted a career workshop at Central Library. Due to the success of this event, Catholic Charities has expanded its services to include a career studio for the poor and homeless in the community. Suit Yourself will provide the following services all free of charge: resume help, mock interviews, job preparedness workshops, computer access for job searches, and a free business suit or work clothes. Suit Yourself will be open once a week by appointment.
Michael Overstreet participated in the career workshop earlier this year and will be the first to receive a free business suit from the Suit Yourself program. “You feel better when you look better. And that confidence is really important in an interview,” said Overstreet. “Many people out of work in my community haven’t interviewed in years. It’s easy to forget about certain things. Participating in mock interviews reminded me of the kinds of questions I will be asked, and I think Suit Yourself will help a lot of people remember how to apply for jobs again.”
The Suits & Sandwiches event is open to the public, and those interested in attending are encouraged to contact Annie Ormsbee at Catholic Charities of Lexington: (859) 253-1993, ext. 223.
