Lasting Change Session Begins October 13 - Sep 16th, 11 Lasting Change is a free financial literacy program for low-income adults who are struggling to get by financially. The next six-week session will begin Thursday October 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Pax Christi (4001 Victoria Way). Dinner and childcare will be provided. Asset Mentors Needed - Aug 29th, 11 The next series of Lasting Change is set to start Thursday, October 13. Catholic Charities is looking for 4-5 volunteers willing to serve as asset mentors. Lasting ˘hange is a financial literacy program which is specifically geared toward unbanked, low-income individuals who rely upon community organizations to supplement their basic needs. Lasting ˘hange utilizes a holistic asset building approach by combining mentors, facilitation-based workshops, peer support groups, and banking incentives. Asset mentors develop relationships with the program participants. The purpose of the mentorship is to offer individualized attention to address the specific needs of participants.

Sister Fran Moore Awards Dinner a HUGE Success! - Feb 27th, 11 Almost 200 people braved the wet, rainy weather to gather at Hehman Hall, February 24 to celebrate 10 excpetional individuals whose contributions to Catholic Charities have helped the agency fulfill its mission to "empower and assist residents of the Diocese of Lexington to improve their quality of life."

Rent and Utility Assistance Fund is Depleted - Feb 25th, 11 The Bridging the Gap office of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Lexington exists to provide emergency services to individuals in the Diocese. Currently, the funds to assist individuals with their rent and utility bills have been depleted. The cold winter placed an added strain on families this year and many more are contacting us for assistance. Without funds many individuals and families will be unable to stay in their homes or avoid having their heat or water turned off.
Catholic Charities calls on you to help us keep individuals in our Diocese in their homes with their utilities on. Please mail all donations to Catholic Charities at 1310 West Main Street, Lexington, KY 40508, indicating that the money is for rent and utility assistance. For more information you may call (859) 253-1993 and speak with Annie Ormsbee. Donations are also accepted through our website.

Suit Yourself Receives Support from LCUG - Jan 21st, 11 The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government has awarded Catholic Charities of Lexington $500 to promote and buy supplies for the Suit Yourself program. Suit Yourself was recognized as a program that enhances the environment of Lexington and provides outstanding activities for the citizens of Fayette County.
If you are interested in making a clothing donation or volunteering as a career counselor for Suit Yourself, contact Annie Ormsbee for more information (859) 253-1993 ext. 225. Suit Yourself is located at 772 Winchester Road and is open the first and second Wednesday and the third and fourth Saturday of every month.

Coping with Loss through the Holidays - Nov 10th, 10 Grieving a loss can be especially difficult when others are celebrating. Join us as we discuss the process of grieving and talk about ways to manage painful feelings in a healthy way. Trick or Trafficked - Oct 19th, 10 Human trafficking is a very real tragedy in our world. On Thursday, October 28 people will have the chance to learn more about the horror of human trafficking, both domestic and international.
Trick or Trafficked is a seasonal campaign in Central Kentucky designed to throw a spotlight on the terrible exploitation of people for pleasure and profit. The Trick or Trafficked event, set to take place October 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Central Library on Main Street in downtown Lexington, will feature a panel presentation, a documentary highlighting one form of human trafficking as well as suggestions for how ordinary citizens can become modern-day abolitionists.
